Buckeye Discount Cleaners was founded by John Blair and Luanne Handley-Blair of Beavercreek, both previous employees at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, after they were on assignment in Washington D.C. and started to noticed a trend in discount dry cleaning, reports the Fairborn Daily Herald. “We noticed that dry cleaning was really cheap there because of the high commuter population, but the quality wasn’t that consistent,” Luanne Blair said. “When we returned to Dayton in 2011, we were shocked by dry cleaning prices. We thought a discount dry cleaners might work in Dayton, but, with top quality.” The couple opened their plant in 2011 with the logo “Making Affordable Quality”. Recently, they were selected as a Certified Green Business by the Dayton Regional Green III in partnership with the University of Dayton. “We’re the only green certified dry cleaner in Dayton,” said Blair. “The equipment we use, as well as the solvents and additives, are the most environmentally friendly and the least destructive. Also, any waste is sent to be properly disposed of.” Recently, the company opened a new shop in Fairborn, where customers can drop off and pick up dry cleaning. “We realized there is definitely a market for high quality dry cleaning there with its proximity to the base,” said Blair. “We want to bring a quality product to people at an affordable price. We offer the lowest ever-day prices in the northern Dayton area.” Read more on http://fairborndailyherald.com/news/home_top-news/3947167/Buckeye-Discount-Cleaners-open-Fairborn-location.
